MySweetSchoolDaze: United To Learn’s Learning Launch ’23

By Jeanne Prejean, My Sweet Charity

According to United to Learn CEO Abigail Williams,

“This school year, teachers will spend an average of $820 of their own money buying educational supplies to create inspirational learning environments for their students suggests one analysis. United to Learn (U2L) invites you to be a part of solving this time intensive financial burden and join our annual Learning Launch campaign, Dallas’ only back-to-school supply drive that provides and delivers teacher-requested learning resources to campuses.

“In its seventh year, Learning Launch has grown to benefit more than 36,000 students and 2,400 educators at 75 Dallas ISD elementary schools. Past examples of Learning Launch deliveries requested by the teachers themselves include care closets to provide uniforms and hygiene to meet student needs, cozy reading nooks and rugs for circle time, storytime books and novels to engage young learners, sensory building sets to develop fine motor skills, literacy toolkits to guide small group lessons, and even a DJ to add excitement and welcome students to the first day of school.

As a part of Learning Launch, there are three ways that you can help show our students and dedicated educators that you care during the back-to-school season:

  1. “Donate at www.unitedtolearn.org/learninglaunch before Thursday, September 21, or through North Texas Giving Day on September 21.
  2. “Volunteer to help make Learning Launch deliveries on Monday, August 14, or find another way to give your time at  www.unitedtolearn.org/volunteer.
  3. “Attend the Back-to-School Fiesta hosted by United to Learn Women’s Forum Co-Chairs Lindsay Billingsley and Karen Pollock on Tuesday, September 19.
