As Communications Director, Emily Bywaters advances United to Learn’s mission, brand, and programs through inspiring content and storytelling. Emily works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to design and create content.
Emily Bywaters brings a passion for creating positive change and more than 20 years of nonprofit experience that includes business, communications, marketing, and PR. Drawn to both the arts and sciences, she has worked in mission-driven organizations and higher education institutions, including Junior Players, the Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas, UT Dallas Center for BrainHealth, SMU, and the veteran service nonprofit Boot Campaign. Over the years she has also helped launch two healthcare brands and a luxury fashion business as well as co-produced two independent films.
Emily holds a degree in Arts & Performance from the University of Texas at Dallas where she was also pre-med. After graduating she stayed in Dallas, balancing nonprofit work and a career as a commercial and theater actress. Although it is rare to catch her on stage these days, she, her husband, and two very busy daughters like to remain involved with the arts community. For fun, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking, hiking, reading, and yoga.Back To Team
