Shaleia Gruber

Program Manager

As Program Manager, Shaleia Gruber supports the implementation and effectiveness of programs delivered across our partner schools. Shaleia works closely within our Literacy pillar, managing our tutoring programs.

Prior to joining U2L, Shaleia worked as a special education teacher for 6 years and as a long-term substitute for 2 years in Norfolk, Virginia. While teaching, she helped facilitate a coding program within her elementary school which received funding and recognition from the U.S. Department of Defense. After receiving her Bachelor’s from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Master’s from Norfolk State University, she was given the opportunity to receive a certificate in Early Childhood Technology from Tufts University.

Education is important to Shaleia because she has seen the improvements that can happen in a child’s life when they have access to adequate resources and wants to see all children experience that. A few of Shaleia’s hobbies are reading, traveling, STEM, and trying new foods!
