MySweetSchoolDaze: United To Learn’s Learning Launch ’22

By Jeanne Prejean, My Sweet Charity

According to United To Learn’s Learning Launch ’22 Co-Chair Lindsay Billingsley,

“Before we know it, back-to-school season will be in full swing. While we all are finishing up our summer vacations and dreaming of cooler weather, United to Learn (U2L) is busy preparing for its sixth annual Learning Launch and its third annual Learning Launch Fiesta!

“U2L’s Learning Launch is Dallas’ only back-to-school supply drive that provides schools with teacher-requested learning resources and tools. And we need your help in making sure our teachers get exactly what they need!

“U2L’s Learning Launch aims to alleviate the financial and time burden of teachers and administrators who typically spend an average of $600 of their own money annually to backfill district and school budgets. And, we get to show our educators how much we support them and the important work they are doing for the future generation.

“In addition to providing educator-requested supplies, this year United to Learn is helping campuses with principal-directed campus projects that enhance the learning environment and aim to excite students about the start of school.

“So how can you help?

  • “Join me and my fellow co-chairs, Margaret HirschSarah WeinbergJenny Staubach and Dawn Zierk for our Back-to-School Fiesta on Thursday, September 21.
  • “If you or someone you know wants to invest in our local school system, Learning Launch is the perfect solution. Please sponsor us at unitedtolearn.org/learninglaunch!
  • “Volunteer! We’d love volunteers to help with this effort so go to unitedtolearn.org/volunteer to give your time.

“Here is what else your support provides: leveled libraries to meet every learner’s needs, care closets to provide uniforms and hygiene to meet student needs, cozy reading nooks and rugs for circle time, storytime books and novels to engage young learners, sensory building sets to develop fine motor skills, literacy toolkits to guide small group lessons, and many more ideas that requested by the teachers themselves.

“Help us get teachers the supplies they really need to start this year off right!”

And thank you to Atmos Energy for powering us up for the second year in a row as presenting sponsor.”
